FAQ and Hints on Using this Website and our Features

Understanding the difference between our "Articles, News & Announcements from Fauquier.Biz" feature and "News & Announcements from the Community."
"News & Announcements from the Community" is intended to be an organized community "blog" which enables all registered users to submit and self approve for posting news and announcements on a variety of topics relevant to daily life in Fauquier County, Virginia. That feature is unmoderated, thus registered users have the flexible ability to post news and announcements relative to the topic. Submissions to that category will be "pruned" after a reasonable period of time. We will, upon request, create a new topic category or subcategory for use by any Fauquier County, Virginia neighborhood or community based organization so that members of that group may readily find and post news of their organization or neighborhood.

The "Articles, News & Announcements from Fauquier.Biz" feature is a more moderated news area, where all articles are approved by the website moderator or a vetted contributing writer. We welcome providing serious writers the opportunity to publish articles and stories of the history and heritage of Fauquier County, Virginia. We also are open to local writers who wish to write regular columns on a variety of topics (we are open to suggestions) relevant to local readers.

Governmental News and Events : LORD FAIRFAX COMMUNITY TRAIL OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Posted by fauquierwebmaster on 2009/11/25 0:08:54 (1819 reads)

WARRENTON, VA, 24, September, 2009, The Fauquier County Parks and Recreation Department is proud to announce that the Lord Fairfax Community Trail is nearing the end of construction and will be
open for public use and enjoyment in early October 2009. The community is encouraged to visit this newest section of trail in the department’s goal of completing the connections plan project.
Future plans for the trail include a connection through nearby land to join the Lord Fairfax Trail to the existing Warrenton Branch Greenway, helping to create a walkable community between Old Town
Warrenton, Meetze Road and Lord Fairfax Community College. “At just about a third of a mile, the Lord Fairfax Trail is wonderful for children or those seeking a short walk and offers an excellent opportunity
to experience the county’s natural pastoral setting,” said Larry Miller, Director, Fauquier County Parks & Recreation Department. “The connection to the Warrenton Branch Greenway is one of the most
exciting projects we have had the opportunity to work on.”
